Reports that Syrian security forces opened fire and killed dozens of protesters in Deraa have triggered a wave of opposition in the international community. Meanwhile, demonstrators organized, and have posted on Facebook a call to uprising.

U.S. officials are extremely worried by the situation in Syria: “We strongly condemn the Syrian government’s attempts to repress and intimidate protesters,” said White House spokesman, Jay Carney.

Ban Ki-Moon the UN Secretary General has phoned the  President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad and asked him to show restraint and respect and protect essential rights of Syrian citizens.

Amnesty International has also condemned the violence in Syria in the last eight days.

Meanwhile, a call to “popular uprising” in the Syrian provinces for today has been posted on Facebook, a day after the bloody events that took place in major cities, especially in the south.

The model of the “Facebook Revolution” had followers in Tunisia and Egypt. The Internet is now the virtual spark that lights the flame of revolution in Middle East.

Protests were taken place yesterday at Deraa, where dozens of people were killed on March 18 and were extended to Daael, Damascus, Doma, Banias, Sanamein, and Hama.
